Today we also did our last set of mud sampling (well, planned anyway, if we do another station, then we'll get more), so I collected two bags to take home, one of mud and one of clay, so I can play with it in pottery, some clay i've pulled out to play with on the way home. It'll be an interesting experiment.
Watching the sunset one evening.....at 11pm.....So join me as I explore my own long road, from Maine to Antarctica to the UK, and most things inbetween. This blog is my ramblings from the daily life of a deep-sea biologist living as an alien in the USA, and a way to keep my family and friends in the loop that is my life without filling up everyones mailbox!

Last Days.....
We're in the final throes, we're actually early too, we have a few more days we can sample, and there is talk of fitting in another station, really close to here and close to Palmer Station, where we have to be on the 10th. As much as i'm ready to get off this boat, go home and continue with my life, i'm also feeling a little sad today. Many of these people i've sailed with three times now over the last year, and many of them I get on with really well, we have fun, we have a blast, and there are no more cruises planned with any of them. Thats made me a little sad and reflective today.
