Station B and nearing the end.....

Temp - -10.1C

We're at Station B, the last station on this cruise, just a few more days to go before we head back into Palmer Station to pick up people and supplies, go back to the Weddell to pick up the field camp we dropped off at the beginning of the cruise and head back across the Drake Passage. We arrived here at midnight last night, but the weather had picked up to 40knot winds and 20ft seas and some serious rolling around. My poor larvae may well have suffered, i'll soon see in the next few days - if they start dying off that's probably why. A bummer, but you can't help the weather, just a risk of running an experiment like that out here. By 7am the weather was still up, but down enough to throw over a trawl, which though brought back some samples, because of the weather, brought back a very very small sample.

Needing some good news this trip, today Victor the Electronics Tech brought me back my camera and we fired it up. It works! Kind of anyway, it's a little funky. The screen has some serious lines down it, it takes a few tries to get it on, the down button doesn't work and when you download photos the occasional random photo turns up instead of the one you took. BUT - it takes photos and the lens seems intact, the pictures are crisp and clear and no smudges so far (though you can see goo on one side of the lens). Now all I need is a good sunrise or sunset to really test it and see if I can see anything on the photos.....

Been a long cruise, it's time to come home....

Winch in the snow...

Biggest starfish i've ever seen.....
