So join me as I explore my own long road, from Maine to Antarctica to the UK, and most things inbetween. This blog is my ramblings from the daily life of a deep-sea biologist living as an alien in the USA, and a way to keep my family and friends in the loop that is my life without filling up everyones mailbox!

Oh so simple....
Wrap-n-mat - no more disposable sandwich wrappings........at this point I wish I had (and had room for) a sewing machine....these would be so easy to make....!
Yup....my "buy less stuff" has gone off the rails.....
okay, i just went and looked again at their site. not sure how much shipping is, but i couldn't buy the materials for less than they are charging per mat!
NEat. Will be sure to get some images of S. this weekend and post them early next week. Wish you could join us. Hopefully, we will see you again soon. Until then, ride a wave for us. DW
At the risk of being old fashioned...Would a plastic kind of container work just as well for a sandwich? Or does it cause some other kind of problems? I can also work on duplicating a pattern if you want,
Totally, I use plastic boxes for my sandwiches, but sometimes boxes are too large an dbulky or on hikes you don't want to carry a box, and unless you have exactly the right size box for the bread, they often fall apart before you get to them - so these sounded like a cool alternative. I like the the idea of somewhere clean to eat too rather than balancing on the box lid. We'll see, maybe they won't be so good, it's one of those things that I really want to work.....just have to see if it does.....:0)
So this looks like a great idea-- but I'm wondering about putting PVC right up against your food? Can't PVC form dioxins when it contacts meat/cheese? Not sure but I remember something about this from a few years back...

my friend uses these. i never tried them out after she suggested them. want me to make you some?
I just ordered one online - if it works well I'll totally make a pattern for it and send it your way for duplicating....:0)
I kept thinking these would be excellent at Echo too!

Is there anything safe in this world???
So I ordered the PEVA lining, rather than PVC for just that concern. But then i'm sure in 5 years they'll figure out something wrong with PEVA too....
They do LDPE too, which is the same thing as ziplocs, just thicker...though I worried it wouldn't be so tough.
